On May 28, 2019, at 15.00, a round table was held at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "The Great Kazakh archeologists", dedicated to the 120th anniversary of academician Kanysh Imantayevich Satpayev, and also the 115th anniversary of the famous scientist, founder of the Kazakh school of archeology Alkey Khakanovich Margulan and the 95th anniversary of Kemel Akishev, an outstanding Kazakh archeologist, doctor of historical sciences, winner of the Chokan Valikhanov Prize, and a book exhibition of the works of scientists was organized.
The purpose of the event is to popularize the contribution of Kazakhstan to the historical and cultural heritage of the Kazakh steppe in celebration of the anniversary of three heroes in the center of archeology, to demonstrate the continuity of scientific research today.
Director of the Institute of Archaeology named after K. Akishev, Ph.D., associate professor M.K.Khabdulina: “There are words not enough to describe these heroes. K.I.Satpayev is not only discovered the mineral resources, but also raised science to the present level. As a result of the great work of Satpayev the specialty of geologist was considered the most popular profession in 70-80-ies of the XX century. A Margulan is the founder of the archeology of Kazakhstan. From young age he was the head of the department of archaeology of the Academy of Sciences, which was founded in 1946. The main objective of Kemal Akishev is to popularize the ancient history and archaeology of Kazakhstan, the rich heritage of his native land. The country remembers successful work in this direction. The contribution of these scientists to science and discovery will remain the basis of archeology. ”
The round table was attended by the dean of the history department of the Eurasian National University named after L.N. Gumilyov, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor T.S. Sadykov, Head of the Department of Archeology and Ethnology, archaeologist-scientist U.Ú.Úmіtqalıev, Director of the Research Institute of Archeology. K. Akishev - M.K. Khabdulina, senior researcher at the Nur-Sultan department of the Institute of Archeology named after A.K. Margulan - D. Baıtіleý and discussed the current state of archeology in Kazakhstan.
